Connected TV Ads Puzzle Media Buyers

Parks Associates research says in first-quarter 2014, U.S. broadband households watched roughly three hours of online video per week on each of three platforms: mobile phone, tablet and connected TV. Connected TV viewing has rapidly climbed from 2.3 hours per week in first-quarter 2013. Mobile phone and tablet video usage have seen more modest rises.

Smart TVs to be in 35% of US homes by end of the year

Roughly 42 million US households will have a smart TV by the end of 2014, accounting for 35% of the country’s 119 million TV households, according to Parks Associates.

The research, presented at the IAB Advanced TV Town Hall event in New York yesterday, claims that by 2018, 70% of all US TV households will have a smart TV.

New 1Q 2014 research from Parks Associates shows TVs are outpacing computers as the key platform for Internet video.
